There are certain signs in life that we notice as we live our lives with eyes wide open. We see them everywhere. If we take note on our lives there have always been signs guiding us but we have to be aware and alert to notice them. If we get off the path of life that we are suppose to take we will notice so many things simply falling apart. It is as if you can not hurry through life but allow it to flow. Our wedding plans had been so easy for us. I hear all types of horror stories about wedding struggles but that just never happened. I suppose because we just went with all of the setbacks that arrived and took them as challenges to solve we enjoyed the experience. When you are making the right choices that is how life flows. From wedding favors to invitations we agreed on design and style. It felt as though we were beating to the same drum throughout the experience which is also how our lives continue. We have enjoyed many years of life together so far. We have raised four amazing children that any parents would be proud of who follow our same thoughts on life. The secret to happiness for us is simply living with your eyes wide open in all you do. Notice the signs that are there before you showing you the way. If you do not see them and suddenly feel life falling apart just simply get yourself back on track at the point you felt things going wrong. Sometimes you may find it was several decisions before but it can always be fixed. We are meant to enjoy life not fight it.
When we received the wedding invitations they were scrolled with small silver bells on the envelop as well as on the invite itself. It was a clear indication that the bride and groom had chosen a winter themed wedding. It was so beautiful. They had gone to such extremes to make all of their guests feel welcome. They had friends and family as well as co-workers attending their event. We met many new people that we will remain friends with for many years to come. It was one of those weddings that we did not want to end. In fact, it did not end on time. We actually were still dancing long into the night. The couple was suppose to leave early because they had a flight the next day but they too chose to stay and enjoy the festivities. It was so much fun. Laughter filled the reception hall for many hours. The preacher was there as long as everyone else. He was enjoying the delicious treats and beverages and also doing a little dancing of his own. The favors that were passed out from this wedding were small silver bells. A small card included read, “Every time this bell rings an angel gets its wings.” We thought that was a perfect favor for this wedding. It was filled with so much love and togetherness. We have never been to another wedding like it. We keep those bells in our china cabinet throughout the year and each holiday we pull them out and place them on our Christmas tree right in front with the card still attached. Every one that sees it loves it. What a great favor that will last us a lifetime.
Stumped trying to look sophisticated at a memorial? New research suggests that a little electric zap to your mind might enable you to appreciate fine art more. Research has discovered the encounter of viewing art might be made more enjoyable by activating the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. As prior studies have discovered, a little zap may be a powerful thing: Electrical stimulation to the scalp has been proven to improve people’s math skills and video game skills. The study suggests that possibly activating this area of the brain enhances your disposition, making the experience of seeing graphics more gratifying. In this study, the mind stimulation only enhanced viewers’ admiration of realistic art, not abstract works, which suggests that the process of seeing abstract art might call for different areas of the mind.
Tiny though the sample might be, this gives a new look to us at several of the neural structure underlying our aesthetic judgements. Neuroaesthetics, the field of studying aesthetic beauty through neuroscience, aims to arrive at the bottom of the way the brain determines something is lovely. Yet investigators’ efforts to quantify why we enjoy art remains somewhat controversial.
It was a wedding of angels, or so the old town saying went. It was as if
the two individuals were destined to be together by some cosmic force.
They were two halves of one whole.
The wedding was held at the top of the highest hill in town. A great
pagoda stood at the top, and acted as the center of the ceremony. Wedding
favors lay ready on the tables put out for the guests. These wedding
favors were little glass stars and small baskets of goodies.
The sun had completely set under the horizon and the sky was a black veil
above them littered with twinkling stars. There were lamp posts set up
around the pagoda to offer light for the ceremony.
The ceremony was planned for this day for a very special reason. This
night, a beautiful meteor shower was scheduled to arrive. The lights would
dance across the sky and bring good fortune to the couple. It was an
unusual tradition, but the couple was far from usual.
The first light of the meteor shower began to streak across the sky. It
was followed by another streak of light, then another. It was a sight for
the bonding ceremony to begin.
The man charged with wedding the couple cleared his throat and held up a
book. He began to read from this book and the crowd listened with
interest. He commented on the significance of this celestial phenomenon
above them and how it would bring everlasting love and happiness to the
It was an undeniable fact. This wedding was not going to have any wedding
decorations. It was not necessarily a bad thing. A wedding should not be
judged by the wedding decorations. A wedding should be about the bride and
groom being bonded together.
This particular wedding was a very simple one. It was held on the beach
with the sun lowering. There were only a few people attending as guests.
These people had very special places in the hearts of the couple, however.
Each one of them had proven their kindness and unconditional loyalty time
and time again. The couple would not have the wedding without them.
It was the simplest wedding that one could imagine. There was a very
calming sense of peace on the beach. The ocean breeze brushed against the
people gently. The warm sun glowed on the sand and reflected off the
water. There were very few signs of civilization. The closest town was
beyond the trees. There were a few white fluffy clouds in the sky and the
sun reflected an orange and purple glow.
The bride and groom stood face to face smiling. They had no religious
priest to wed them, simply a justice of the peace. He was an old man with
grey hair. He spoke a few words and declared the bride and groom husband
It was a grey morning in the office. It was also very early. There were
only a few people in the office at their computers. I was one of them.
I was working on a new marketing plan for our company. We had decided that
we were going to use personalized napkins at all of our community events.
It had been a split decision. Some had argued that the use of personalized
napkins would be far too expensive and the gain wouldn’t be very
noticeable. Others thought it would be worth the risk.
Personally, I didn’t really care. I was the head marketing developer. All
I did was market what the company wanted. If the company wanted napkins
with its logo on it, then I would make that happen.
Currently there were several places that offered this service. Today, I
was comparing prices for each place as well as the quality of the
products. I had been instructed to find the cheapest price with the best
quality. Unfortunately, as with any product, this combination was very
difficult to find. I ended up choosing one in the middle. Its price was
moderate compared to the others and the napkins wouldn’t tear upon touch.
Finalizing all of my research, I reached for the phone. It was time to
actually contact the place and make a deal. Hopefully it would be worth
It was the night before the wedding and most people were asleep. One
person was awake inside the house. He paced back and forth, unable to find
any rest. The wedding favors still needed to be prepared. He had
purchased them a long time ago, but did not do anything with them. As time
passed, he had forgotten all about them until this morning.
They were tiny shot glasses with a small chocolate inside of them. The
glasses were embossed with their names. It was to be a reminder to all
that came. Unfortunately, these wedding favors were not quite ready.
Robert took a moment and thought about his life before Tia. It really had
been a mess. He had done many things that he wasn’t proud of. His life
had been spiraling out of control. Then he met Tia. She was the only
person that believed in him. She had shown him compassion where others
would only offer pity. She had truly shaped him for the better. He was
Sometimes he wondered if he was worthy enough to marry her. He wondered if
he was good enough. He had asked her this once, and was told that he was
undoubtedly the most worthy person that she had met.
He was determined to finish these gifts. He may have forgotten about them,
but he would fix that mistake. He would be the person that he should be.
I’ve gotten some pretty awesome wedding favors in my time but I recently got a very sentimental favor; probably the most sentimental favor that I’ve ever received. The bride and groom had a professional photographer take some very picturesque photos of the ceremony and reception. Then the bride and groom uploaded the pictures and edited them into a slide show. Then every guest received a memory stick with a copy of this magnificent slide show to remember the occasion by. This probably doesn’t sound so special as compared to other wedding favors but what made this gift really stand out is the fact that the bride and groom went out of their way to make sure that each and every guest got a great picture of themselves with the couple, which was included on the slide show. I didn’t realize that the couple had gotten a candid photo with me. It’s a photo of the groom attempting to place some cake into my open mouth and missing horribly because the bride pinches his bottom at exactly the right, or wrong, moment. I love the picture; it’s a great memento of a real Kodak moment. My girlfriend and I particularly enjoyed her picture with the bride and groom. It’s a shot of the bride at the head of a conga line, my girlfriend right behind her, and the groom next in line.
The other day I received an opportunity of a lifetime. Wedding invitations are always something to get excited about, especially wedding invitations that invite you to a place of wonder. This is what happened to me the other day. I was just going about my normal business and everything was progressing like an average day. It was when I got home after checking the mailbox that I realized that I was going to do something special. It was an invitation to the wedding of a friend of mine. He and his girlfriend have been dating for a long time, and at first I simply was happy for them. Upon examining the invitation more closely, I realized that their wedding would take place on a tropical paradise island in the Pacific Ocean. There was a picture of the wedding location. I must admit that I didn’t believe that it was real at first. It was an ecological marvel of nature that danced before my eyes. The sand was so white and the water was so clear. No five-star hotel could dream to match the beauty and wonder that was held within that picture. It was like I was staring at paradise itself. The cost to get there was not going to be cheap, but did that really matter? This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.
Jessie and Steve had been dating only a couple of months when they knew they were going to get married. There was something about them as a couple that all of their friends and family could feel also so the announcement was no surprise. We knew it was coming sooner rather than later. In fact, several of us thought they would elope. There was no point in delaying the inevitable. They were so close right from the start because of all they had in common. In just a couple of dates they were finishing each others sentences. They spent every second together after they began dating as well which furthered their bond. They were assembling their wedding favors one night when they truly showed why they were so compatible. They simply could not stop laughing and it proved contagious. They both have a very easy going personality. It was the night before the wedding and yet they were so relaxed. When something is right it is just right as they put it. They are so much fun to be around because they are always so upbeat. You can feel their energy. They gave out the coolest thermometers for their wedding favors. They have floats inside of them that reveal the correct temperature. No one had a Galileo thermometer so we all really loved them. Every time I look at our thermometer I think of them and I can not help but smile.
